When it comes to training off-leash freedom, having a way to safely simulate that feel is essential. A long line is the best way to do that. It also gives you a way to see how your dog will react to you and the e-collar when they get further away.
These are some of my favorite leashes I have used. Of course you can choose whichever you like, but I will rank these as I prefer them.
#1: Mendota Check Cord
This leash is lightweight and durable. It does not have a handle, which is a downside for some.
#2: Lynxking Check Cord
This line is similar to the Mendota. The durability seems to be slightly less, but it does have a handle.
#3: Hi Kiss Nylon Cord
A flat nylon leash. This is a good option as well. I do notice the flat nylon lines hold moisture and can be a lot in the hand when training.
My Favorite collar accessories
These tools are the "extras," they help make life a little easier for you and/or safer for your dog.
Herm Sprenger ClicLock
This snap can come in handy for those dogs that may be prone to wiggling or for owners that struggle with to pinch links on the collar. This latch is secure and I have not had any issues with it coming undone. The only downsize, in my opinion, is that it does take up the space of two links. If you have a smaller dog, I would not use this snap as it would leave you with only a few prongs.
Pawsitive E-Collar Replacement Strap
I recently had a client order this and got to use it while the dog was with me for a board and train. I really liked how easy this collar was to use. The material is nice and fit on the e-collar receiver perfectly.
Backup Snap
This backup can clip on your dogs flat collar and then to the leash or on the O-ring of the prong and then to the snap of the leash. This is one I have used in the past and it was a good size and felt secure!
These are some of my favorite things to help with training. I do receive a small portion if you shop through my link, but it should not change the price you pay! I appreciate all of the love and support from you all :) More blogs about various subjects to follow.
